This
four-day drift boat fishing trip begins at Grave Creek boat ramp at
8:00 a.m. . Soon after launching our boats we will rope our boats
around Rainee Falls rapid. This gives you a chance to stretch your
legs, take pictures and perhaps see a Salmon or Steelhead trying to
jump the falls. During the rest of the approximately 60 mile journey
you will experience a part of the world accessible only by boat. A
variety of wildlife make their home along the River and may be viewed
during your trip. Black Bear, Otter and Black Tail Deer are often
seen. Great Blue Herons and Ospreys make frequent appearances and
chances are good you will see an Eagle.
Fishing the Rogue offers exciting opportunity whether you are a novice or an old pro. We specialize in fishing for the half pounder Steelhead that average 14 to 16 inches, but can range up to 22 to 24 inches (4 to 6 pounds). We also fish for Chinook and Coho Salmon when available. All fishing equipment and tackle is furnished unless you have a favorite of your own. Drift boat trips begin the first of September and run into mid November. The number of parties we guide on the Rogue’s Wild and Scenic section is limited by federal permit. Trips are planned for parties of ten to twelve guests. Smaller groups are often combined. This trip should be booked well in advance to assure your desired dates. The drift boats we use are a comfortable way to navigate the river. They are specially designed for whitewater and carry two passengers each. All of our guides make a significant effort to provide our guests with personalized attention and care. FOOD - We will stop mid-day where a picnic style shore lunch will be prepared. Dinner and breakfast are for hungry outdoor types in rustic lodges along the River. There is always a variety of food, however if someone can only eat specific foods please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate them.LODGES - The three lodges we stay at are Marial, Clay Hill and Singing Springs. They are all comfortable with good food and running water. The first two lodges are run on generators so you will not be able to use blow dryers for hair. The last night has electricity and a pay phone.FIRST AID - We supply first-aid equipment, but if someone needs specific medication or has allergic reactions to anything such as BEES please let us know.TRANSPORTATION - Medford, Oregon is the nearest airport served by large airlines. One may travel by car along Interstate 5. It is best to spend the night preceding your trip in Medford, Grants Pass or at a riverside lodge even closer to your launch point. You will need to make shuttle arrangements to best fit your travel needs. There are several different shuttle options available and we can help you arrange the one that best fits your needs. We will be happy to help you set up any of your shuttle and lodging arrangements. Shuttles and transportation to and from the river are not included in the trip price.FOUR-DAY TRIP SUGGESTION LIST- A medium size, flexible duffel bag- 3 changes of clothing- 1 set of rain gear- 1 coat or light jacket depending on trip time- Personal toilet articles- A hat, sunscreen and sunglasses- A camera- Please no waders- Any hard liquor that you may want; we furnish soda and bottled water- A fishing license and tagSpace for luggage in the boats is limited and the luggage must be carried between the river and the lodges by hand, so please pack as light as possible.
